Designing the future, Fraunhofer style with Guido Follert

Guido Follert, Head of Department for Machines & Facilities - Fraunhofer IML.

Guido Follert was born in Dortmund in 1969. He studied mechanical engineering with a specialisation in technical management at the University of Dortmund. While still a student he took over project work on material flow simulation in the company VES and ProCom.

From 1999 to 2008 he worked as a research assistant at the Lehrstuhl für Foerder- und Lagerwesen at Dortmund University. As a lecturer, he is active at the Haus der Technik in Essen and at the IHK North Westphalia in Muenster.  Guido is also involved with the Committee 306 of VDI, the German board of engineers.

Since 2008, Guido is Head of Department for machines and facilities at the Fraunhofer IML in Dortmund. This department works currently with 15 scientists from the fields of mechanical engineering, logistics, electrical engineering and computer science on various tasks in the field of technical logistics, from conception through development and design to analysis of systems in-service.
